TOKYO ART BOOK FAIR (TABF) 2024 proudly presents PLAYGROUND, an enhanced edition of our previous installments of the Kids’ Reading Room, a project geared to our younger audience since 2022. Within PLAYGROUND, the Kids’ Reading Space offers an occasion to indulge in our selection of original and translated, old and new picture books from Germany, this year’s Guest Country, by many names familiar to the Japanese readers as well—the Brothers Grimm, Michael Ende, Erich Kästner, Tomi Ungerer, Janosch, Otfried Preußler, Helme Heine and more. PLAYGROUND also includes the ART BOOK VENDING MACHINE, TABF's very own vending machine stocked with art books and zines, providing a chance for serendipitous encounters with picture books that can also be enjoyed as art books. In addition, there will be a variety of workshops held by artists by reservation only, workshops by WOSET that can be joined in at any time, and other events that can be enjoyed by both parents and children alike. A reservation-only day nursery service will be available as well.
