I am an artist and locksmith from Montrioal, Canada. My photography and zines serve as a documentation of installation art unwittingly created by the culture of consumption and disposability. I use diptychs as a means to reinforce the gaze on a certain object or to encourage metaphoric links between different images. I have collected my images in self-published zines and books for the last 7 years.

Pet People Magazine celebrates the love stories of pets and their people, in one city per issue. We explore what life with pets is really like and how they can make us humans feel and change our behavior through just being themselves. We often say pets depend on us, but isn't it really the other way around? The magazine's 60 pages are filled with photos and short stories based on interviews with pet people who live in the issue's city in focus. We meet them in their homes or out and about and document the daily life of living with pets. We discover relationships deeper than you'd think. In the first issue, we meet pets and their people in Malm?, Sweden. The team behind Pet People is photographer Hilda Grahnat and art director / graphic designer Linnea Paulsson. We are based in Sweden but aim to explore life with pets in cities around the world in coming issues. All texts are in English. The magazine is self-made, self-published and distributed by the two of us. We believe print isn't dead and independent publishing is a way for us to do what we love and reach people who like what we like. Such as pets and their people. The print production is carbon neutral and the paper is produced from 100% post-consumer recycled fibres. We care about the environment!

  • LI SHAN CHONG

Li Shan was born in Singapore and is currently working in a Japanese Gallery. She started lllkaku during her graduating year in London College of Communication, UK. She thinks of herself as someone who carries too much emotion and tends to express these emotions in her drawings, self-made objects or through other artistic methods. These emotions and mixed feelings get so overwhelming sometimes, that she created two fictional characters Frankie and Jane. These two characters portray two sides of herself: Frankie a hoarder of things and memories, and Jane an artist who wants to get rid of Frankie’s stuff and‘burdens’. This is constant struggle, Li Shan is often contradicting and cynical, however she believes in hope and love. Making books is therapeutic to her, her stories and illustrations often reflect her mood. All these little struggling stories can be found in lllkaku.

  • MNK press

MNK press is an artist run publishing project based in Tokyo, Japan. Our aim is to encourage engagement with printed matter and to widen narratives through published works. Our first publication is done in collaboration with Johannesburg based photographer Andile Buka. The photobook is titled 'Crossing Strangers' and it is a body of work which encapsulates an exploration of the city of Johannesburg.
The images have been taken in Johannesburg within the CBD and in the suburbs of Soweto. The project is an exploration of one's own space within Johannesburg. It aims to communicate a narrative based on movement and the chance and sudden encounters one has within a city. What makes this interesting is that the city of Johannesburg itself has gone through many urban and social changes. From colonialism, Apartheid and now living in its independence, the city has witnessed and played an important part in these changes and naturally its affects are clearly visible through the urban environment, most importantly with how people interact within the space and ones own personal relationships and understanding within it.
What 'Crossing Strangers' communicates is an examination of how one positions themselves within a space which has in most ways been defined through history. What it captures are the people who occupy those spaces, who are changing its very definitions and tells a story of who those people are, their lives and why and how they exist within the city space.

  • Rachel Salmon-Lomas

This book collects a select number of prints from hundreds of evolving editions of dry point etchings that Salmon-Lomas has produced continuously, largely unseen for the past 20 years. They reflect situational epiphanies and a particular set of private moments, with the hope of connecting universally through the experiences we share, yet in which we often feel at our most isolated. Often bearing the self imposed artificial gravity of multiple selves under personal paperweights, Riley (the cow) transitions from private gestures into recognizable, performative public language. This book reveals glimpses of Riley that are presented to perform in your own context, albeit just for a moment.

  • Red Boots books

I'm an Italian freelance illustrator and printmaker, and aside my daily work I founded in 2014 the self-publishing label Red Boots books. Why Red boots? Because I used to have a pair of red boots when I was a child, and they took me everywhere. I still have a pair of red boots nowadays and, still, they make me feel invincible and free. The Red Boots books (two are still in catalogue, one is sold out and other two are yet to come) are hand drawn and offset printed, and then cutted, folded and bounded by hand by me, one by one.

Both Laylah Armachih and I are students studying Illustration and visual media at University of the Arts in London, We are now entering our 3rd year at University and have recently been chosen to take part in the in the year program 'Diploma in professional studies' where we will begin independently participating with worldwide creative events and industry experiences. We both are primarily drawing based illustrators and enjoy storytelling and book making which is why we decided to take part in this book art fair in Tokyo, Japan is also one of the many places we plan to visit in this coming year. For this Book art fair we decided to create print collages based on creatures and characters we have been designing through the summer. All the zines use a combination of Lino, mono-printing and digital collage. This has also given us to chance to begin exploring themes such as travel and adventure as we also begin our first steps into the creative world. We have both been Inspired by several Japanese artists and print makers such as Umetaro Azechi, Akiko Taniguchi and Yoshitomo Nara and many more and are excited to take part in the Tokyo Book art fair if you accept us.

  • Yes I am Writing A Book

Yes I am Writing A Book (YIaWAB) is the creative documentation of a close collaboration between the editor Andrea Scarabelli and graphic designer Federico Barbon. Based in Milan, YIaWAB is devoted to graphic design, artist’s books, unconventional writing and quality printing. The selection of our collaborations is extremely personal, influenced by our own tastes and artistic research. Our goal is to work with a broad spectrum of artists, that still believe in the importance of paper as a material and in the enduring power of books. Our books are dedicated to artists, exploring character, surroundings, everyday life, inspirations and ideas, using unconventional formats to create an understanding of the artist’s work with an innovative visual approach. The focus is to capture the essence of the artist’s work at that very moment of our collaboration, suggesting as well an overview of his/her whole artistic sphere.YIaWAB is distributed in Europe and United States in selected bookshops and attends to art press fairs and public events. But of course, wherever you are, you can get hold of our books online.
