Established by leading camera and lens manufacturer Sigma, the Sigma Foundation was founded to support and promote photography as an art form. In this event, Kazuto Yamaki, CEO of Sigma and founder of Sigma Foundation, will introduce its mission and vision while presenting the foundation’s two inaugural projects: photography books by Sølve Sundsbø and Julia Hetta. We are pleased to welcome Greger Ulf Nilson, responsible for book design, and Creative Director Björn Kusoffsky, who will reflect on the creative journey from their passion for photography and art to the making of the books. Together, the discussion will explore the significance of building a new platform dedicated to photographic art.

Greger Ulf Nilson
Greger Ulf Nilson is an art director, designer, and curator — an artistic leader driven by a deep fascination with the art of photography. Over the years, he has created an impressive range of art books in collaboration with some of the world’s most renowned photographers. He serves as editor and book designer for Sigma Foundation’s inaugural publications.

 

 

 

Björn Kusoffsky
Founder and Executive Creative Director of multidisciplinary studio Stockholm Design Lab, Björn Kusoffsky has contributed to the initiative of Sigma Foundation and its book projects as well as a new identity for the Sigma brand at large. Founded in 1998, Stockholm Design Lab is today one of Europe’s most awarded and respected brand design companies.

 

 

 

Kazuto Yamaki
Kazuto Yamaki joined Sigma Corporation in 1993. After being in charge of mechanical design, etc., he entered the Corporate Planning Office. He served as Camera Project Leader, which he started in 2000, and became President in 2005. In February 2012, he took over as the CEO of the company. In July 2025, he established the Sigma Foundation, dedicated to supporting and promoting photography as an art form.
