AKINA is an independent publishing house of photobooks which carry their experimental singularity in contents, visual narratives, handmade and hybrid binding techniques, paper combinations and printing. Since September 2012 AKINA, has released more than 30 publications. First based in London, now between Turkey and Italy, AKINA works with both emerging and established photographers from all over the world, developing an editorial line that is constantly challenging the reader to think critically and reconsider the book form. In between novels and movies, all the books are created in a collaborative way with the photographers and artisans involved, to propose an unique reading experiences through the books, as objects to crease, love, collect. Aprilsnow Press is a small publishing house based in Daegu, Korea. Launched in 2013, it publishes a small number of books per year, mostly photobooks. Run by design writer Kay Jun and book designer Jeong Jae-wan, Aprilsnow Press evolves around three keywords; photography, text and design. Having background in graphic design, both Kay and Jaewan see publishing as part of their project of questioning the relationship between photography, text and design. Each book published by Aprilsnow Press is thus interpreted as a live platform of practicing the relationship of these three keywords. IANN, which means “seeing eyes and thinking eyes” has been engaged in art photography magazine and exhibition planning, consulting and educational programs, etc. since its establishment in 2007. With the slogan of “communicating art and design with shared vision,” IANNBOOKS aims to provide new and progressive visuals throughout the contemporary arts and culture with its brand partners.

Art Metropole (est. 1974) is a non-profit artist run organization with a mandate to produce and support artist-initiated publication in any media, especially innovative formats pre-disposed to sharing and circulation. V. Vale’s 1977-79 Punk zine, Search & Destroy, was originally funded by Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and published at City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco. In 1980 Vale launched as sole-proprietor RE/Search, whose big sellers include Modern Primitives, Angry Women, Incredibly Strange Films, Industrial Culture Handbook, Pranks, Incredibly Strange Music, etc. Subjects include W.S. Burroughs, Bruce Conner, Survival Research Laboratories, Throbbing Gristle, Lydia Lunch, J.G. Ballard, Henry Rollins, Penny Rimbaud (CRASS), etc. The books have been credited as being where culture seekers found out about alternative culture before the internet RE/Search books and magazines have been sold world-wide in English and in many translations for decades. Pushing the boundaries of the physical book in an age writing its obituary – Tara Books is a collective of writers, designers, and bookmakers, based in Chennai, south India. We publish illustrated books for children and adults. We generate many of our titles in-house, but also work with creative professionals across the world. We’re particularly known for our pioneering work with the incredibly rich traditions of Indian folk and tribal art, as well as our range of books made completely by hand, from the paper to the printing and binding. The key for us is to convey what makes a story unique, and communicate this through high quality editing and design. Our editions are mainly offset printed and bound in The Netherlands and we strive to work with local producers as much as possible. And so we follow our publishing path that leads us to unknown destinations, with all the travel companions we meet along the way.

The Thing Quarterly は、サンフランシスコにて2007年から10年間にわたり、年4回、計34号刊行された雑誌です。本企画のユニークな側面のひとつとして、雑誌でありながらも決まったフォーマットの紙媒体で表現するのではなく、アーティストとともに日常の中で芸術の大切さを物語るオブジェクトを制作していた点が挙げられます。ミランダ・ジュライによるシャワーカーテン、ガブリエル・オロスコによるフリスビー、ライアン・ガンダーによるトランプ、タウバ・アウエルバッハの時計など、毎号異なるアーティストが手がけたオブジェクトなど、アメリカのアートシーンで活躍する現代作家による作品を「雑誌」というフォーマットで量産し、多くの人々が気軽に生活の中でアートに触れ、体験できる機会を創出しました。

東京綜合写真専門学校出版局は、東京綜合写真専門学校内の出版部門です。書店およびウェブを通じて、国内外で販売を行なっています。東京綜合写真専門学校と出版の関わりは長く、1973年から『写真批評』という批評誌を刊行していました。学校創立者・重森弘淹によって始まった『写真批評』は、刊行当時、写真界に多大な影響を与えました。東京綜合写真専門学校では、その理念を継承し、新たな映像時代を切り拓くため、2015年に出版機能を備えた部門を新たに設立これが現在の東京綜合写真専門学校出版局です。

Valerie grew up in New York City. Her influences include punk, Pre-Raphaelite art, the Apollo space missions, skate culture, brutalist architecture, collage and postal art, vintage toys. A club kid obsessed with music, she moved to London to take pictures of bands for pop magazines and record sleeves. She went on to shoot fashion and advertising, along the way becoming immersed in her own personal projects. Books and zines soon became the focus of her work. She began self publishing in 2001. Her first book ‘I Want To Be An Astronaut’ was a first of its kind – following an unknown Brooklyn high school teenager through her daily life. Her recent work has been described as “a transcendent mix of fashion, un-glamour and big city real life”. She is drawn to girls who aren’t afraid to show off their individual quirks and oddities off in front of the camera, and who add their magic and mystery to experience. Valerie’s commercial work includes Nike, Stussy, Dr Martens, Puma, Reebok, Paul Smith Japan, Urban Outfitters, Virgin Atlantic. She has worked with Amy Winehouse, Florence, Manic Street Preachers, PJ Harvey, Bjork and Nick Cave. Carine Th?venau is a Photographer, currently based in Australia. Her work is expressed through portraiture of the individual, but also broader portraits of place, space and time, including the psychological space. Carine is interested in nature and the built environment and what this interrelationship can reveal about civilisation. Carine’s book ‘Seasonal Abandonment of Imaginary Worlds’ is a photographic collection of ageing Japanese playgrounds in rural Japan. The playgrounds are either abandoned or empty due to seasonal snowfall. Although the images may arouse a nostalgic sensation, a more critical analysis reveals economic shifts and Japanese cultural philosophies towards nature, respect and sustainability, as the playgrounds pictured here, are objects of a longer life cycle than the playgrounds of the West. Carine’s photography has been published in Wallpaper (UK), iD (UK), Metal Magazine (Barcelona), Champ Magazine (Tokyo, Japan), Milk (France) and Vogue (Australia).

Our objective is to create a platform focused on both the collecting of ideas and references from as wide a range of design and art related fields and disciplines as possible, as well as the promotion of experimental methods and process. The first da大 in print publication, reuse eventually, attempted to demonstrate alternative perceptions of urban context visually via 10 original compositions. It was published in July of 2018, and followed up in January of 2019 by c-SITE#1, an interdisciplinary discussion featuring architects, photographers, artists, and graphic designers discussing the topic of “New”.

トルコの古い唄の引用からはじまる村上春樹氏のエッセイが好きで気が向いたときに読み返している。今回出展する写真集の着想はそこから得ていて題名も同じ『Distant Drums / 遠い太鼓』とした。なんのことはない旅先の写真を集めただけであるが、めくっているうちにどこかへ行きたくなるような、というよりそこにいるような気分の本したい。テーマを旅ではなく「距離感」としているのはそれが理由でもある。ADに『Studio Journal knock』の西山勲氏を迎た私家版。本展が世界初リリースの場となる。

IG Photo Galleryは、非営利の写真専門ギャラリーです。写真評論家のタカザワケンジさんをディレクターに迎え、現代にふさわしい新鮮で魅力的な作品を制作する作家の企画展や、写真家をめざして初めて個展を開こうとする意欲ある方々に場所を提供するとともに、製本ＷＳや、双方向的に写真について話し、考えを深めるための「写真サロン」などを開催しています。この一年は、勝又公仁彦、山本渉、タカザワケンジ、海原修平、鈴木崇、金村修、石田省三郎らの企画展を開催、写真集などの販売を行ってまいりました。

northern California publisher of zines and cascading accordions (a kind of moving book i have developed and have been experimenting with since 2013). primarily focused on the natural world, queer politics, and/or awe and magic. i published my first zine in 2009, and since that time my works have found their way into the special collections libraries of eighteen public institutions, including MoMA, the Met, New York Public Library & London’s V&A Museum. 2019 will see publication of Moby Dick variations (redacted to queer & mcmfmd), crumple fade, crumple fade inverted, and two new cascading accordions (lunar transit loop and 32 mile horizon (200mm)).

Kima is the publishing imprint of Los Angeles-based graphic designer Lauren Graycar, started in fall 2013. The output circulates between art and design, and is a mix of her own work as well as collaborations with artists and friends. Editions are conceived of and handmade by the designer and centered around themes of personal history and present interests. Past exhibitions include “Chapters: Book Arts in Southern California” at the Craft and Folk Art Museum (Los Angeles) and “Oh!” a solo exhibition of the imprint at Ditch Projects (Springfield, Oregon). Most recently, the designer collaborated with Los Angeles studio Building Block on a hand-screenprinted silk scarf set.

Extrapool is an artist initiative based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, operating in 3 workfields: sound, art and print. The focus is on graphic designers and artists, new artists without large distribution networks, and fringe artists with semi-popular concepts. Print workspace Knust is part of Extrapool and has been specialized in stencilprinted matter over the last 25 years ? nowadays more commonly known as risograph printing. Knust was founded by and for artists and offers the possibility to let your own work be stencilprinted in small editions for a reasonable price. With high expertise Knust/Extrapool has been publishing various series of book and print projects such as Art Prison, Work Holiday, Ko Zines, Slimtarra and many more. NoRoutine Books is an independent publishing initiative dedicated to designing and printing unique fine arts books. All publications are strictly limited to 99 copies (+AP) with some unique elements included. Post-printing processes are finalized in the NoRoutine Books studio. NoRoutine Books works closely with artists to conceptualize and produce their works in book format. Through a collaborative process, NoRoutine Books ask artists to push the boundaries of their practice and experiment with different printing and binding processes. Often the book becomes an extension of the art piece. NoRoutine Books was founded by two artists, Vilma Samulionyt? and Gytis Skud?inskas, in summer 2014.

Based in Berlin since 2015, Replika Publishing is a small independent publishing house producing work under two main branches; Replika Volumes and replika artist books.
Replika Volumes is a self-published, three dimensional, curated artist periodical featuring the works of ten international artists and an artist catalogue which expands upon the edition with a further 30 contributors. With each issue, artists, writers, musicians and creators of all descriptions are invited to explore a given theme, and to respond with an object-based, serialised work. Influences by Fluxus, we intend to explore new methods of exhibition through printed matter and book arts.
Replika also works closely with selected artists to produce artist books in small runs. recent titles include Footfalls Echo from Award winning photographer Freya Copeland.

I am a Bangkok-based independent photographer, communication designer and self-publisher whose work investigates the relationship between photographic narrative and its conceptual documentary through the craft of publication design. The scope of work revolves around a prospect of how a book could be read through a series of photographs without an influence of words.
Taking inspirations and experiences from the 2018 Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei and Seoul Art Book Fairs, I am now in the progress of researching and developing a new body of work that enhances an interaction between images and readers. It creatively introduces an interactive reading experience that allows the readers to be involved in a photographic narrative. Each work has a distinct concept that is designed to physically engage with the readers and narrate through a work of handicraft.

Ediciones El Fuerte is a small publisher project from Argentina that makes zines and posters using risograph and etching. French is an artist from England who creates psychedelic horror drawings in bright neons and day glow inks punctuated and shaped by a distinctive illustration style. Conjuring imagery of a ghoulish fantasy realm, not too dissimilar from a roll the dice styled board game. His works are referential of a ‘medieval space age’. Zines, stickers, patches, t-shirts, posters and flags become the physical incarnations of the work in an ode to the objects a 15 year old would decorate their bedroom or jacket with in the 80’s. Dragons, castles, knights, skeletons, wizards and vikings face off in French’s illustrated universe resulting in a body of work demonstrating his unique understanding of the illustrated form.

Libri Finti Clandestini is a project that examines the concept of recycling in relation with design and publishing. Its aim is to create real books using only waste paper “found around”, which people consider to be rubbish.
ndeed, all the paper with which the books are created is found in different places such as laboratories, libraries, abandoned buildings, paper mills… Books are therefore individually bound by hand, stamped and numbered.
They are little pop up books in a small editions (50, 100 copies), collaborations with artists and illustrators or single piece books ready to be used, drawn in, written in, or given any other meaning the owner chooses.
Last year Libri Finti Clandestini project took part at some international fairs such as I Never Read Art Book Fair Basel, Toronto Art Book fair, Taipei Art Book Fair and Chicago Art Book Fair.

ODD ONE OUT is the first gallery in Hong Kong dedicated to illustration, graphic arts & printmaking. Opening in 2012, we have been exhibiting screenprints, etchings and fine art prints. Working as a bridge to develop the appreciation of printmaking and encourage Hong Kong artists to explore other possibilities, starting in 2015, we started editioning and publishing limited edition art prints and artist books by local artists who have not traditionally worked in print mediums.

We are graphic design studio OhhCream, founded by Lynn Lee Yuet and Doris Duan, collaborating as a design & research team since 2018. We focus on the design and art direction of independent publications and digital media. It is established to dig out and highlight excellent photography books, talented photographers, art bookstores and introduce them to the world. We’ve participated in several significant Chinese book fairs, such as the abC art book fair, JIAZAZHI spring photobook party. Tuchong is the most popular Chinese photography community and stock images trading platform and it could be regarded as Chinese local 500px.com or EyeEm. 1989年群馬県生まれ。東京都在住。東京藝術大学を卒業後フリーランスでアーティスト兼グラフィックデザイナーとして活動を始める。ポスターデザインや、音楽・ファッション・出版関連のアートワーク、空間ディレクションなど様々な媒体でビジュアル制作を手掛ける。コンセプトの立案からイラストレーションや絵画の制作、撮影に関するディレクションなど、ビジュアルに関わる作業は一貫しておこなう。2018年にはTOKYO CULTUART by BEAMSにて個展を開催し、絵画とデザインの重なる領域を探る「ポスター・ペインティング」シリーズを発表。

先日、小学1年の次女が驚いて私に言いました。「◯◯ちゃん家には宇宙人が来ないんだって！」我が家には不定期に夜、子供が寝ている間に様々な宇宙人が来て自身の自画像が入った手紙を置いて帰ります。その数おおよそ160人。「夜遅くまで起きていたら宇宙へ連れていくぞ」「宇宙は臭くて、暗くて、びしょびしょ」ちょっとしたきっかけから描き始め結果的に約7年描き溜めたものを今回一冊の本にまとめました。

I am usually a professional FREETER, and sometimes called an artist during exhibitions. Toys, animals, men, walk, garbage. These are what I like. Sometimes I feel awkward and unfamiliar on the way, when seeing garbage abandoned on the street or things left alone. My photographs started with the process that catching the moments. I have been making works through creating novel scenes, adding my own experiences and recollections to the moments, and reproducing images taken already. I enthusiastically publish photobooks, which have not been that successful so far. However, I am thinking of making a complete collection when I accomplish ten photobooks. IG : @yang_seungwook

皆さんは天津飯が日本由来の料理であることをご存知ですか？私達の身の回りには、国籍不明の不思議な文化がひっそりと存在しています。ZonshangはHiopHopやsk8などアメリカで生まれたストリートカルチャーを独自の解釈で再構築するグラフィックユニットです。私達は90年代のUSストリートカルチャーに心を奪われ、香港映画に魂を熱くしたSection.80の一員です。今回のTABFでは、そんな愛してやまない２つのカルチャーを町の中華料理屋スタイルでドープに調理した出版物の数々を謹呈致します。
