Ingo Giezendanner, alias GRRRR, is a Swiss artist who draws urban spaces all over the world in which he has traveled and lived. He searches out for new lands by foot and pins his depictions of them on his interactive map. Hours are spent at the site of his choice, which allows him to become one with public space in the process of creating his detailed pen drawings.
“People are often too fast. When I put my pen to paper they’ve already moved, left, gone astray. My line draws after their tracks: urban build-up, signaling and lots of architecture. In between the weeds by the pavement and improvised bird shelter.”
At Giezendanner’s special booth, the artist himself will exhibit and sell numerous books and zines featuring his city-drawing series, published since the late 1990s up to the present. Please enjoy this opportunity immerse in Giezendanner’s unique worldview.
*Giezedanner’s personal perspective on urban space, including that of Tokyo, are accumulated on his website.
